My 2019 APF Emerging Fellows articles
Links to my award-winning essays on Automation & Modes of Ownership, a topic far more surprising than you might expect.
I’ve meant to put these essay links up for a while. They are here mostly for me to refer to from time to time.
First Some Fun facts:
I wrote these essays on Automation and Modes of Ownership as part of the 2019 Association of Professional Futurists Emerging Fellows program.
Seven other Emerging Fellows participants wrote essays on other aspects of the future of Capitalism. Together, they were published in 2020 in the book CAPITAL TRANSFORMED. You can find it on Amazon here.
I was flabbergasted to win a 2020 APF Most Significant Futures Work for these essays. I’m still flabbergasted.
I structured the article sequence using a simplified version of The Hero’s Journey: “The Call” (1-3), “The Struggle” (4-6), “The Rebirth” (7-9), “The Return (10-12).
My essays:
1: Do we need to own things?
2: Is use more important than ownership?
3: Is the ownership of capital changing?
4: How much of our stuff is stuff?
5: Will automation do away with markets?
6: Who authors the automation?
7: Who owns an automated society?
8: Is automation the commons of the future?
9: Can resources own themselves?
10: How smart can smart capital get?
11: What does automation get in exchange?
12: Who owns capital when capital can own itself?
